What you’ll need to have an excellent online coaching experience:

  • Laptop & Zoom

You’ll need to connect via a laptop and make sure you have the latest Zoom App update. Always use the App instead of the web browser version. You get a much higher quality recording of your session to work with that way. If you’re using a shared computer you must be signed into your own personal Zoom account, not someone else’s for privacy and data protection.

iPads and other tablets are usable if necessary, but you cannot record your session so you’ll need a separate recording device. iPad audio is not the same quality as a laptop.

Please note that Dane will not accept consultations via smartphone due to the poor audio.

  • Ethernet Cable & Adaptor

Wi-Fi no matter how fast, can create a choppy online coaching experience. An ethernet cable plugged into the back of your router and into your laptop will guarantee a stable connection without latency or freezing - it’s just like being in the room. They come in many lengths so you can work from any room in your home. You’ll probably also need a USB or USB-C to ethernet adaptor to connect to your laptop. You can purchase both for around £20.

  • A Microphone - maybe!

Depending on your computer, you may need an external mic. Newer MacBooks have pretty good built-in mics and work well for coaching. Most PC laptops will require an external USB mic like a Blue Yeti or similar. This won’t be essential for your initial consultation and Dane will be able to advise you in this session if an external mic will be required in the future.
